Café Nordlicht is a roastery, bakery and breakfast café in one — right at Eckernförde harbour, since 2017.
From an empty warehouse to our own roastery
Café Nordlicht began in 2017 with a small drum roaster, an inherited recipe book and an empty warehouse right on Hafenstraße. Two people who loved coffee and grew up baking at home wanted to create a place where both come together — close to the water, in the heart of Eckernförde.
To this day we roast our coffee ourselves, in small batches and just a few days before it is sold. We source our beans through direct, fair trade and know for every sack which cooperative it comes from. That way each roast tastes of its origin rather than of mass production. Whatever does not go into the cup is available as whole beans or freshly ground to take home.
Our spot by the harbour is more than an address. From the terrace you look out over the fishing cutters and sailing boats, in winter the oven keeps things warm inside, and all year round neighbours, guests and anyone who needs a moment to breathe meet here. Café Nordlicht is meant to feel like the town's living room — just with better coffee.
Roastery
We roast fresh in small quantities every week — light to dark, gently and traceable right back to the origin.
Pastry & bakery
Cakes, tortes and sheet cakes are made here every morning — with real butter, seasonal fruit and no ready-made mixes.
Service
We take our time: for the recommendation of the day, the second cappuccino and a proper chat at the counter.
Regional sourcing
Milk, eggs, flour and fruit come from farms in the area wherever possible — short distances and honest ingredients.
